I was hesitant to purchase this bed due to the reviews. I am SO happy I bought it. It is very cute and clean looking it is actually sturdier than I anticipated and has treated me well. I originally sought out this bed because I was moving into a super small room and needed under the bed storage but couldnt use all beds with slide out drawers because of the room layout. I am so so happy I got this bed I not only love how it looks but it has worked so well for me and is such a cool product. **The ONLY downside I have experienced which was gross was that it did smell like fish for a while after unboxing it and assembling the bed. I tried to mask the smell with disinfectant spray and letting the room air out but it did linger for several weeks. Before I purchased the bed I read that another customer had experienced this and I assume it came over on a boat with fish on it??Regardless, with my budget and wanting a room that looked nice and didn’t appear low budget I love love love this bed and am so glad I bought it.You have to pay attention when assembling, I had to partially disassemble it because the side rails have to go a specific way and the instruction don’t point that out, also the lift strap has to be put on while assembling the center rail, again this is not mentioned in the instructions.Other than that this is a nice solid bed that works well.I didn’t use the headboard, I was able to reuse my old headboard which matches the rest of the furniture in the room, I just had to drill new holes to match the bolt pattern of this base.Now that I finally put the bed together, here are my observations:1. The item didn’t come with assembly instructions so it was a rough go. I reached out to the seller and they got back to me within hours to give the manual (good job). With instructions, it was fairly easy to put together, just have to pay attention to avoid flipping the items as they can fit either way.2. It’s not heavy on it’s own, this can be good for cleaning and adjusting but when using, it’s slides around. Can be fixed with some furniture stoppers so not a big deal.3. Definitely not great for large storage, it’s at best 6-8 inches depth and you don’t get the full length, you will need bins to put stuff in (this is evident in the pictures on the site so not a surprise). The lift is tough to bring down on its own, its a workout. Better off with beds that are higher and have drawers for storage or higher bed frames that allow you to put flat bins under them, this is essentially the same with a workout!4. There is really no slot to fit the mattress in, it stays on top of the platform and moves around. This makes it difficult for people who toss and turn in their sleep, your mattress may fall off the bed along with you. Quick fix will be to lift the platform with the mattress on, it slides into the slot where the headboard is and helps hold the bed.5. It looks nice in a room and can be used for guests and some storage.Pretty easy to assemble. Really have to pay attention to the terrible pictures during assembly. The instructions have it assembled incorrectly which means that you have to switch the legs of the headboard before final assembly ( 1/4 difference on the headboard mounting).With a queen mattress, this Will take a moderately strong adult to lift into position. My teenager isn’t able to lift it and it probably comes in around 110 pounds of lifting force to get it started ( compared to a dumbbell weight being lifted). The mattress will also slide down when being lifted, causing a 10” mattress or more to become pinched under the headboard and not allowing the frame to be closed. Overall, fairly happy with the bed frame, just not satisfied with the force needed to open and the mattress sliding when opening. It’s a 2 person effort.Great bed. Tons of storage.
