We bought 2 of these to maximize space in our boys' bedroom. We just build them last night, here are my initial thoughts:1. The pieces we received seem to have been fairly decent quality. Thick metal, and only 1 screw out of 2 beds stripped. I was also missing a washer at the end for one screw, but it's just as likely that I lost it as it is that it wasn't packed.2. I don't know if the instructions have been re-written since many of the reviews mentioned poor instructions, but I thought they were fine. Perhaps the importance of lining up particular poles could have been emphasized a bit more (there is a set of 2 poles at opposite ends of the bed that requires a brace midway down, and you want to make sure that's in the right place if you're abutting the corner of a room). I made that mistake, and as Jimmy Buffett would say, "it's my own damn fault." Also, the long side guardrails attached to the very top of the poles on the inside, the screws don't go completely though the poles, so you have to pay particular attention to the orientation of those holes too. I also made that mistake, but again, Jimmy Buffett.3. This can be a one person job. But you need to be an octopus to achieve it successfully, or do a lot of flipping pieces upside down, sideways, etc. Just remember your orientation. It helps if you have multiple people that can hold and fetch things as you need them. The benefits of having several kids.4. I cannot emphasize enough what others have said- don't tighten everything down until you complete whatever section or piece you're working on. Special exception to the ladder in step 1. There are 8 screws that hold the ladder in place- do not tighten them down completely until you're finished with step 2. If you don't, the ladder is going to appear crooked, and is going to be a bit of a bear to attach to the end piece. I learned this after finishing the first one, and was able to apply the know-how to the 2nd bed. You really only want to thread each screw enough to make sure that it's beginning to thread into whatever you're attaching. You want to leave plenty of wiggle room until all the screws are threaded before you go back and tighten everything down. If not, you're going to wonder why pieces don't line up properly.5. The included allen wrenches are good to start threading, but it's going to really increase your assembly time if you have to use them to tighten everything down. I used the allen wrenches for the initial threading, and followed up with a drill and hex bits to tighten everything down. Also, if you are using a drill and not an impact driver, you're going to want to turn the torque fairly low so you don't strip the screws. I did fairly well with this, only stripping one screw after I realized that the torque had been turned up to a fairly high level.6. An anchoring system is included. We haven't used it, are seeing how things go. You do not, however, have to make sure it's aligned with studs, my kit included drywall anchors, and if you end up wanting to anchor, you're probably going to need them.7. Plan on assembly taking about an hour and a half if you have lots of hands. Add an hour to that if you're traveling alone.8. Organization will set you free. Unpack everything and organize the pieces and hardware into appropriate groups so you don't have to constantly search for everything. All in all, I think it's a solid bed that will require some mechanical aptitude to set up, but you don't have to be a pro to get it done successfully. This probably shouldn't be your first furniture assembly experience though. Some pieces come in the package clean and some come dirty as pictured. At first I thought it was rust dust but its just red earth. No idea why its dirty. The bed is pretty easy to put together EXCEPT the part that the mattress lays on. That shit took like five tries to put together and you definitely need two people and patience. Its easiest if you prop it up on its side and have the rods standing vertical so you can sort of cap it with the other side piece. You'll understand when you assemble this bed. I read some other reviews that the screws were hard to get to line up and its true but I found if you had patience and didn't try to force it, the thread finds its place and the screw is able to screw in. This bed was a test of patience. Make your sure you have snacks and water on hand.Took about three hours to assemble everything.I've slept in it for two nights now and it's does move and wobble as you get in and out and when you shift around in bed. I will be anchoring mine to the wall for greater stability as it l moves more than my previous Ikea loft bed (which I never had to anchor in the six years I owned it, even after two disassemblings and reassemblings). This one I doubt will last as long as the Ikea beds. But I do like the placement of the ladder better and they come with flat ladder rungs and rubber to cover the rungs with so your feet don't hurt.I haven't seen any sagging or bending of the mattress supports. I am just at the top of weight range for the bed so I was worried after reading reviews. All in all, its a nice bed and for the price its worth it. I appreciate the aesthetic of it which is why i opted for this bed over an ikea loft bed. The ikea beds currently available are very ugly and the ladders push out into the room while this beds ladder is straight vertical and thus takes up no extra space. Perfect for a small bedroom or studio apartment.I ordered this for my granddaughter. It did not occur to me that I needed to measure walls before buying so that I would have a stud to anchor it to the wall, nor did it occur to me that the only wall it was attachable to, would be directly under the vent in the ceiling. There is nothing wrong with the bed, it's everything that was advertised. Assembly is easy, if not for the fact that it must be anchored to a wall if your child weighs more than a few pounds. I would be a wonderful bed.Seeing as my child does weigh more than a few pounds, and it was impossible to use for her in her room, I asked for a refund. This was the reply....Hi,Sorry to hear that. Would you like to keep it with $20 off as a compensation? Since customer should afford the return shipping fee when there is no quality problem. We will also work out a return label for you. And the label fee $45 will be at your expense. Wait for your reply. In other words, yes we will accept your refund, but it will cost shipping and for the label. or hey..you keep it, give it away, resell it, whatever, and we will give you 20.00 to not deal with it. hmmmmmThis is not Amazon doing this, as Bonnlo is a 3rd party seller. Just make sure you know exactly where this bed will fit before ordering. This bed came in one long single box, pretty heavy. I had my brother come help build it but I ended up helping him to do so aswell. It was very difficult, he is very good at building a few furniture's that I have but I think this was the one I have seem him struggle with. Advice the four main vertical poles aren't alike is a set of two that are similar & other 2 completely different from eachother. So you must pay attention, dont make same mistakes we did thinking they where all similar. I am 5.1 and can completely can stand under the bed. I read the comments and I dont see the rust in mine like said comments, wabally yes. Iwent for it hoping for the best and personally I think everyone has different experience but I am happy despite of being so difficult I think it was a good purchase. I wanted a wood loft but chose this to save up, mostlikely as she grows will want something different.I chose this loft bed due to the style of ladder rungs. They have a piece of rubber that goes on top which makes it much more comfortable than other types.Assembly was easy enough and we put it together in about an hour. Any complaints others had about holes not lining up wasn't an issue. A little wiggling was needed here and there.Very happy with the bed.
